Intensives
Ignite is a ministry of New Directions, a church devoted to raising up pioneering leaders. We want to do all that we can to encourage, equip, envision and empower leaders (or would be leaders) who are devoted to seeing God’s Kingdom expanded.
The Intensive are high impact times, full of biblical wisdom where participants will receive not just impartation, but also impartation so that when they leave to go back to their own ministry situations, they do so changed and equipped to take vital steps forward.
A Church For The Community - August 12 - 14, 2011

Do you want your church to be the best church in the community or the best church for the community?
The next Ignite Intensive will extensively look at what it means to become the best church that you can become for the community.
It will be held from (4pm Thursday) 11 August to (12 noon) Saturday 13 August and it will focus on what it takes to help shape a church that will shape your local community.
We will be looking at how externally focussed churches seek to see not only individual lives transformed, but also whole communities, as well as how God anoints us to play our part in seeing this happen.
This will be a highly practical intensive, where topics that we will be looking at include:
•how to establish partnerships in your community
•how to implement a simple discipleship model that will help build a healthy church
•how to develop strategies that will impact your community
•how to initiate new ministries through which you can love your community
•how to discern God’s call and serve how He has wired you
•how to engage with the social agenda facing every community
The Intensive will be led by Tim and Sharon O’Neill, with guest presenters including Rev Dr Andrew Corbett, and Mayor of Launceston, Albert Van Zetten.
Food For Thought
Just one last thought to leave you with. Did you know that a comprehensive study of Christian churches across Melbourne (All Melbourne Matters) showed that:
.•of 3.6 million people in the city, only 5000 come to faith every year!
.•that’s an average of 3 people per church per year
.•and most of these come through a relatively small group of churches
.•with the majority of churches not seeing anyone new come to faith!
.•the overall attendance at churches across Melbourne is declining by 4500 per annum.
.•it’s not so much more churches that we need – it’s more churches that will be effective at reaching people!
.•Of those aged 75% and over, 30% of the Melbourne population regularly go to church
.•Of those aged 15 to 24, only 3% are connected with a church.
We are quickly becoming a country that is discarding it’s Christian heritage. That’s why we desperately need to see wxternally focused churches established and equipped to be effective at reaching people!
